God Almighty Must Build

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stays awake in vain. Psalm 127:1 (ESV)

Genesis 30 reveals a great power struggle between two women. Envy and jealously have eroded a relationship to the point they have made themselves almost crazy out of their minds! They’ve used every bit of energy to manipulate situations and circumstances to the best of their ability that will have enormous ripple effects, not only in their own lives, but on everyone!

They pretend to be happy even declare that they are, though their actions prove otherwise. Verse 13 (NIV)  … “How happy I am! The women will call me happy.”  Even in that statement you can hear the desperation for approval and validation! It won’t take long for exhaustion to set in when we are consumed with trying to gain approval, to achieve, to build, to find answers within our own timing, will and way, dear one.

One of these women cannot have what she wants, when she wants it, and out of frustration demands others to do as she bids so that she can take control of building her own family, her own way, in her own time; NOW! This desperate grasp for the illusion of control in her life takes place in verse 3. However after wading through all the strife of the following 18 verses (which could have been avoided had she chose to be still and wait on God’s best will, way and timing) this gal receives from God the miracle she had always dreamed of!

God had a plan to bring her the desire of her heart all along! I wonder just how much joy and peace she lost out on and how many sleepless nights she tossed and turned tangled in an emotional fit of exhaustion, worry and tears?! The time and space God had in the waiting could have been enjoyed as she allowed Him to romance her heart into the deeper depths of Him! He longs to enrapture your heart with His unfailing love too dear one. What distraction is keeping you from just abiding at His feet?

The breath in your lungs is proof God is moving and working on the good plans He has for you. In all we don’t know, can’t understand, don’t hear, can’t see… let’s choose to rest in the One who does. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
